Therefore, UMKM players are encouraged to be able to develop their products to be more innovative and creative through graphic design in order to strengthen competitiveness.
The founder of the Yogyakarta Omah Kreasi Center Foundation, Khairun Nisa, in Graphic Design Technical Guidance for UMKM Actors said “Graphic design is no longer the ability of one person, but UMKM actors also need to understand it. At least you can pack a logo on the product," on Friday (25/11/2022).
There are approximately 150 UMKM actors who are provided with this technical guidance. The speakers presented were Special Staff of the Minister of Communication and Informatics for Information and Public Communication Dr. Rosarita Niken Widiastuti MSi, Director of Intellectual Property Development for the Creative Industry Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Dr. Ir Robinson Hasoloan Sinaga SH LLM, and Director of Culinary Design Craft and Fashion, Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Yuke Sri Rahayu SSos MA.
UMKMs in Yogyakarta and other regions are believed to have superior products but are still weak in creative marketing. The growth of the digital economy should be balanced with an increasing market for UMKMs.
The creative economy is a solution for the revival of the economy after the pandemic, moreover, it is supported by increasingly high and easy digital access that can expand market networks. In Indonesia there are around 60 million UMKM actors and only around 20 million actors are able to display their products on the digital marketplace.
Consumers will be interested in the product by looking at the packaging. Therefore, UMKMs are encouraged to be able to pack more attractive packaging with a touch of graphic design so that the market aspect will be wider, especially supported by the quality of UMKM products that are no less competitive.
